FAQs - Employee Children Applicant

Children of a United Cities Gas Company employee at July 31, 1997 are given preference, who is also a current Atmos Energy employee or retiree or separated Atmos employee, i.e. Atmos sold division.

First time applicants must have graduated from high school or equivalent, i.e. GED.

A student must be considered a full time student (12 credit hours per semester for undergraduates or 9 credit hours per semester for graduates) by the school.

Yes, each applicant is required to submit an application for each new scholastic year.

Applications must be postmarked no later than June 30.  Freshman applicants must include OFFICIAL high school transcripts which may be incomplete if school year not ended.

Full time undergraduate students are given scholarship grants first.  If funds remain, scholarship grants are issued to full time graduate students.

Transcripts for the fall semester must be postmarked no later than January 31.

Class transcripts can be submitted by mail or email and must include the student's name and last 4 digits of their social security number.  Freshman applicant must include OFFICIAL high school transcripts which may be incomplete if school year has not ended.

The applicant will not qualify to receive a scholarship grant for that semester.  If the applicant wishes, the application can be applied for consideration for the following semester. 

The Board of Trustees meet to award scholarship grants by mid-August for the upcoming scholastic year.  Grant monies are mailed shortly thereafter for the fall semester.  The spring semester grant monies are mailed the first week of February (trustees must receive transcripts by January 31).

Scholarship grants generally are approximately $2,000.

If you do not enroll for college or meet the required semester hours after receiving a scholarship grant, you must notify the scholarship foundation and are required to return the grant monies.
